BLUE DAY
Today we reviewed the last quiz. Because of poor performance of so many, we will re-quiz on the information. After going over the quiz, we reviewed the eye and ear and briefly discussed the effects of drugs on the nervous system. The quiz next Tuesday will be over the old material (you have the old quiz to study from) and the information on the eye, ear and drugs. There will be a diagram of an eye and an ear to identify parts on. Also, you should know the functions of the parts of the eye and ear. The quiz will be 25 points so questions will be general in nature.

BLUE DAY
Today we reviewed the nervous system to help prepare us for a quiz on Wednesday. It will be a BIG quiz 25-30 points (perhaps you may think of it as a small test). After reviewing, we began learning about different sense organs. Today we covered the eye and the ear. Next class we will be dissecting a sheep eye.
Homework: STUDY for quiz/test on Wednesday 3/28!!

BLUE DAY
Today we began class with a 2-Pointer. How does an impulse travel down a neuron? How are charges dispersed along a neuron at rest?
We reviewed notes from last class and then did a Reaction Lab to determine whether or not being distracted reduces reaction time.
After the lab, we began looking at the anatomy of the brain.

Today we practiced our last OGT question, this afternoon is the OGT - science part. Take your time, read carefully and you should all do fine!
After the practice question, we took more notes on the nervous system. Specifically we learned how an impulse travels down a neuron - a wave of depolarization.
Homework: Due Tuesday 3/20 - notebooks, P&R pass and study your notes for a 2 pointer!!

BLUE DAY
Today we reviewed the endocrine system prior to the quiz and then took the quiz. After the quiz, we reviewed more OGT questions. The science part of the OGT is next Thursday so we have one more day to practice with some questions. After the OGT questions, we began taking notes on the Nervous System, Chapter 36. Because of the OGT schedule, we will not be meeting on Tuesday, the next time we meet will be next Thursday.
Homework: Due Thursday 3/15 - Reading Essential 36.1
Today we reviewed the endocrine system prior to the quiz and then took the quiz. After the quiz, we reviewed more OGT questions. BLUE DAY
Today we began with another set of OGT practice questions. We reviewed the endocrine glands and their functions. We took notes on how the endocrine system regulates human growth hormone and water level content in our bodies through negative feedback loops. Also, we discussed the role of the thyroid gland and the importance of having iodine in our diets to prevent goiter. Finally, we learned that the pituitary gland is the MASTER gland!

Again, go to the ODE web site to get more information on the test and for practice questions. After the OGT questions, we moved on and began the endocrine system. We took notes and labeled the glands.
Homework: Due Wednesday 3/7 - Reading Essential 35.3 and complete the endocrine gland worksheet identifying functions of the glands. Remember, use your text book, reading essentials book and internet if needed to complete the functions column of the worksheet.
