For the first 20 minutes, we worked more on short answer OGT questions. We then began learning about the systems of the human body. The first system is the integumentary system - skin. We have identified the parts that make up the skin and the functions of the skin.

Today we went over the characteristics of primates and discussed the different primate groups. We watched a PBS documentary - Becoming Human. We are looking at our ancestry and how the hominids have changed over time.
We also spent some time reviewing an OGT short response question. We will continue to practice OGT questions to prepare for the test in March!
No homework! (unless you owe me something!)

Welcome to 2nd semester!
Today, we spent time reviewing what we had started prior to exams. We reviewed Darwin and his theory of natural selection. We watched a short video on natural selection and pepper moths. At the end of class, we worked on a worksheet which reviewed the first section of Chapter 15.
No homework tonight! See you Thursday!

Yeah! Today we finished watching "How the Earth Was Formed". After the video, you took notes on how life may have arose on Earth. We learned the difference between spontaneous generation and biogenesis. We also learned about the endosymbiont theory which suggests that prokaryotic cells at one time were ingested into eukaryotic cells and they symbiotically lived together. This symbiosis gave rise to the eukaryotic cells of today.
Homework: Read the article about the Endosymbiont Theory and answer questions.
