Today we finished Chapter 15. We spent most of the day in the library working on a virtual natural selection lab.

Homework: finish lab

Reminder: Test on Chapter 15 Friday!!!

Welcome to 2nd semester!

Today, we spent time reviewing what we had started prior to exams. We reviewed Darwin and his theory of natural selection. We watched a short video on natural selection and pepper moths. At the end of class, we worked on a worksheet which reviewed the first section of Chapter 15.

No homework tonight! See you Thursday!

We looked at 6 pieces of evidence for evolution. I checked binders today and collected P&R passes. At the end of class, we watched a video reviewing the theories of evolution.

Homework: STUDY for EXAMS!!!

Yeah! Today we finished watching "How the Earth Was Formed". After the video, you took notes on how life may have arose on Earth. We learned the difference between spontaneous generation and biogenesis. We also learned about the endosymbiont theory which suggests that prokaryotic cells at one time were ingested into eukaryotic cells and they symbiotically lived together. This symbiosis gave rise to the eukaryotic cells of today.

Homework: Read the article about the Endosymbiont Theory and answer questions.

Monday, January 5, 2009

We watched more of "How the Earth Was Formed". We are up to the emergence of mammals. We will finish the video tomorrow. At the end of class, I explained the homework.
